Genetics are a new feature introduced on 6/8/2023!
This page will explain how genetics will work on Vulpix Isles.
First lets look at Color Groups. All bases are separated into three color groups: Black , White, and Red.
Black : Contains dark colored bases
White : Contains light colored bases
Red : Contains vivid/multi-colored bases
When breeding two Black colored vulpix, their offspring can be almost any Black base. If one Black and Red vulpix are paired their offspring can end up with a base from either Black or red color group.
There are three categories to Shades; Light, Dark and Medium. This allows for more specific breeding.
Let’s say you wish to breed a Black Ice vulpix.
Black Ice base is considered a Black dark base. You are more likely to end up with a Black Ice vulpix if you pair two Black dark base vulpix compared to pairing a Black light or Black medium.
Shades works like this:
Dark x Dark = Dark
Light x Light = Light
Dark x Light = 50% Medium, 25% Light, 25% Dark
Medium x Medium = 80% Medium, 10% Light, 10% Dark
Light x Medium = 50% Medium, 50% Light
Dark x Medium = 50% Medium, 50% Dark
Using this, if you pair a Black Dark and a Dark Light vulpix you can get almost any Black base, though it still depends on the parents base!
Lastly bases have rarity:
Common bases are currently only Kanto and Alolan as it is the most basic form of vulpix.
Uncommon bases can be found at catch or a Base Reroller.
Rare bases are achieved by breeding Uncommon, Rare or Special bases, and have a chance to be found at catch.
Special bases include event applicator bases, raffle-exclusive bases and combo breeding. Special bases are the most difficult base to breed.
Regardless of color group/shade, there will always be a chance to get Kanto/Alolan depending on the parents.
You cannot produce a special base vulpix unless one of the parents has that specific base. Color groups and Shades also do not affect the chance of passing Special bases.
Here's an example of the outcomes breeding between rarities:
Storm(Rare) x Black Ice (Uncommon) =
Kanto, Alolan, Coffee, Melanistic , Onyx, Black ice, Storm
Apricot(Uncommon) x Moonstone(Special) =
Kanto, Apricot, Blonde, Topaz, Morning, Golden Hour, Albino, Moonstone
Breeding a Special bases together can potentially produce common, uncommon, and rare bases of that color group! However, Special bases will not appear unless one of the parents have a special base. Even then there's only a chance for that specific base!
Breed only bases can only be obtained through breeding! When breeding vulpix of a certain base and shade group, these bases have a chance of appearing! Breed only bases cannot be applied via base changers.
Any Kanto base from the Black Medium shade or an Alolan base from the Black Medium shade breed with a Kanto from another group, can produce Rainy.
Any Alolan base from the White Dark shade or a Kanto base from the White Dark shade breed with an Alolan from another group, can produce Evening.
Any Kanto base from the White Light shade or an Alolan base from the White Light shade breed with a Kanto from another group, can produce Morning Mist.
Any Kanto base from the Red Dark shade or an Alolan base from the Red Dark shade breed with a Kanto from another group, can produce Sundown.
Any Kanto base from the Red Medium shade or an Alolan base from the Red Medium shade breed with a Kanto from another group, can produce Rainy.
Here are two examples to get the Breed only Rainy base:
Flint (Kanto Black Medium) x Melanistic (Kanto Black Dark) =
Kanto, Melanistic, Onyx, DeepSea, Nocturne, Chocolate, Flint, Rainy (Breed only)
Thunderstorm (Alolan Black Medium) x Melanistic (Kanto Black Dark) =
Alolan, Kanto, Black Ice, Melanistic Alolan, Melanistic, Onyx, DeepSea, Nocturne, Chocolate, Flint, Thunderstorm, Rainy (Breed Only)
