I collaborate with Dr. Peter Copeland (UH Geoscience) and Dr. Brad Smith (UH PHLS) to design, implement, and study geology field trips aimed at recruiting more diverse students to study geoscience, encouraging them to persist in the major (or minor), and considering graduate studies.

We currently are working on a manuscript outlining the theory of action for the program and a second manuscript about how the mentoring that takes place during the field trip facilitates science identity development.
