Motto: Be and Make
For the Welfare of the World and for the Liberation of the Self
The Idea behind the Organiztion
'No Nation is great or good, because Parliament enacts this or that, but because its men are great and good.'
'Men, men, these are wanted; everything else will be ready.' 'So make men first.'
'When there will be such men (real men ), how long will it take to drive away famines etc. from the land?'
'We must have life-building, man-making, character-making, assimilation of ideas.'
'The first great thing to accomplish is to establish a character.'
'Therefore, first make character – that is the highest duty to perform.'
'Let the lotus of your character be full-blown, and the results will follow.'
'It is best to work among the youth in whom lies our hope.'
'Be and make. Let this be our motto.'
'The whole secret lies in organization, accumulation of power, co-ordination of wills.' 'Push on with the organization.'
From these and similar ideas of Swami Vivekananda (published in http://abvym.org/idea.html , http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VYM/) the inspiring message of Swami Vivekananda for the youth and the nation will be the driving force for the organization.
Guiding Methods and Principles:
Based on the lifework and message of Swami Vivekananda such as “ Help and not Fight; Assimilation and not Destruction; Harmony and Peace and Dissension”, shun “ Sectarianism, bigotry and their horrible descendent, fanaticism”. The idea behind the organization will be in line with that of the ABVYM mentioned at http://abvym.org/idea.html . In course of time, VSC wishes to make endeavors to be brought under the aegis/banner of the ABVYM.
Even till the VSC is brought under the umbrella recognition and guidance of ABVYM, VSC will take the guidance given in http://abvym.org/forstudycircles.html .
The Anthem
The anthem of the Akhil Bharata Vivekananda Yuva Mahamandal (ABVYM), Samgachchhadhvam, is taken from the oldest Indian literature: the Rigveda. It has been repeated in the Atharva-veda also. It is a song of UNITY, unity in thought, word, and deed, unity of heart. This anthem of ABYMM shall be the anthem for the VSC.
