With the rise of healthcare technologies, we have come a long way in creating healthier populations by decreasing maternal and child mortality, increasing life expectancy through nutrition and sanitation, and creating a generally healthier population.
However, with new innovations come new problems and we must learn how to tackle the issues that may arise to further advance general health in underserved areas. Many new healthcare technologies today are going from the lab directly to the ground. The issue with this practice is that people don’t take into account the barriers increase almost daily in terms of what you need to do before you can get a project off the ground.
In this toolkit, you will find different barriers that people with healthcare technology startups have encountered or anticipated in their different project endeavors. Many of these people have had failed projects but there is one common theme amongst all of them: the entrepreneurs saw it as another chance to learn before their ultimate success.
This toolkit is split up into 2 main parts. The first section consists of questions that will guide you as you conduct market research before entering a new market with your healthcare technology startup. The second section has a case study of a healthcare startup that has either failed because of this barrier or has successfully overcome this barrier.
