Darren is affiliated with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and is currently a Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow at the Earthquake Research Institute, The University of Tokyo. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2025, where he worked closely with the Alaska Volcano Observatory. His research focuses on characterizing diverse forms of volcano seismicity, analyzing interacting seismic and acoustic wavefields at volcanoes, and applying machine learning methods to volcanology. He has worked on volcanoes in Alaska and Japan. As an ECR/EDI representative of the commission, he aims to advocate for underrepresented voices in the field and help foster stronger connections between scientists across different career stages.
