The IASPEI/IAVCEI Commission on Volcano Seismology and Acoustics is committed to fostering an inclusive, diverse, and equitable global scientific community. Our mission — to advance understanding of volcanic processes and improve hazard assessment — relies on collaboration across disciplines, cultures, and regions.

The Commission’s EDI and Early Career Researcher (ECR) representatives play a key role in embedding these principles across all activities, ensuring inclusive participation in meetings, training, and governance.

We are particularly committed to supporting ECRs and colleagues from underrepresented and developing regions by promoting mentorship, accessible capacity-building initiatives, and fair representation in leadership and scientific programmes.

Through these efforts, we aim to reduce structural barriers, foster respectful and supportive environments, and build a globally representative community that enhances both scientific innovation and societal impact in volcanic hazard assessment.
