Bastian Steinke
Bastian is a volcano-seismologist specialising in volcanic tremor, time series analysis and Machine Learning. He completed his PhD at University of Auckland (New Zealand) and is currently working as a postdoc at ULB (Belgium). He has worked on volcanoes in Argentina, Iceland, Mexico, New Zealand and Tonga to detect sources of volcanic tremor and changes in volcano-seismicity as precursors to eruptions. Further research interests include submarine volcanic hazards and associated geophysical signals, remote sensing, volcanic hazard mapping and communication of natural hazards & risks.
