The Back to School Campaign is an initiative aimed at empowering young boys and girls to start the new academic year with dignity, self-assurance, and a renewed sense of purpose. This innovative campaign, spearheaded by Voice It In Action, aims to provide free haircuts, styling, and grooming services to various students, coupled with workshops on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) prevention, self-care and confidence-building including long term links to educational and extramural activities. By fostering a culture of mutual respect, self-love and empowerment.
This initiative can break cycles of violence, promote positive body image/s, and equip the next generation with the tools to succeed. Through this holistic approach, we envision a future where every child can thrive; free from the shackles of societal ills, radiating confidence, resilience and hope. Voice It In Action - Pillar 3: Education and Sustainable Development. This campaign forms part of the 16 and 365/6 Days of Activism Campaigns (Strategy 2035); #RiseGoodMen Campaign and #999YouthEmployment Campaign
Grooming is not just about aesthetics; it’s about dignity, self-worth, and empowerment. By providing young people with a fresh, confident look, we’re equipping them with the tools to navigate their world with assurance. When we feel good about ourselves, we’re less likely to tolerate abusive behavior and more likely to respect others.
We will therefore need backers (one backer = one child) - backers contribute R100 each towards the campaign.
