The Service Volunteer Programme of Voice It In Action is a national community activation that supports learner dignity, school readiness, and local economic participation. It forms part of Pillar 3 (Economic Participation & Community Empowerment) and contributes directly to the organisation’s Operational Strategy 2035 (OS 2035) — which aims to create 1 million structured employment and participation opportunities by 2035.
Service volunteers play a critical frontline role in delivering community services while also gaining exposure to skills development, enterprise pathways, and coordinated national programmes. Over time, the programme will expand to include multiple categories of service volunteers (e.g. grooming, education support, safety, wellness, environmental and community services) to scale participation and unlock sustainable livelihood opportunities nationwide.
Participants may be responsible for:
Delivering assigned community services (e.g. learner support, grooming, or programme activities)
Participating in official campaign or activation days
Following child-protection, safety, and professional conduct standards
Working under local implementing partner coordination
Supporting learner dignity, confidence, and school readiness
Assisting with basic activity reporting or attendance confirmation where required
By participating, service volunteers help strengthen communities today while contributing to a national pathway toward large-scale employment, skills development, and enterprise growth by 2035.
If there is no Implementing Partner in your area, you can still get involved. Take the initiative by inviting an organisation to register as an Implementing Partner or by starting a community organisation in your area.
Voice It In Action provides training, guidance, and implementation support to all approved Implementing Partners, Implementing Partner Collaborators, and their representatives to ensure effective programme delivery.
Voice It In Action works with civil society organisations across South Africa to implement programmes that advance education, sustainable development, and stronger communities.
Organisations may participate as Implementing Partners (IP) — independent organisations leading programme delivery in their communities — or as Implementing Partner Collaborators (IPC) supporting programme implementation alongside an IP.
Each Implementing Partner may coordinate up to 35 representatives who help implement programmes and campaigns:
