In 2025, our family experienced something truly rare and deeply spiritual. After many years, our entire joint family came together for a holy yatra — traveling as one, in a single bus, with one purpose and one faith. To celebrate this sacred occasion, we were accompanied by a traditional local band, whose dhol and nagara echoed through the mountains, turning our journey into a moving celebration of devotion and desi culture.
This holy yatra was undertaken on the occasion of my cousin’s Mundan (Mundan Sanskar), making it even more meaningful. What followed was not just a journey across places, but a journey into our roots, traditions, and collective faith.
Our holy yatra began from Om Nagar, Pogal Paristan, Ramban as the entire joint family gathered with devotion and excitement. From there, we traveled together directly to Sarthal, Kishtwar, in a single bus, united by faith and family bonds.
As we moved through the winding mountain roads, surrounded by fresh air and breathtaking views, the journey itself felt sacred. Shared prayers, conversations, and smiles made the road to Sarthal a spiritual experience, preparing our hearts for the divine darshan of Maa Sheetla Devi Ji.
Our first major destination was Sarthal, Kishtwar, where we performed sacred rituals of Mundan Sanskar and had the divine darshan of Maa Sheetla Devi Ji. Surrounded by serene mountains and a peaceful atmosphere, the temple radiated immense spiritual energy.
Every family member participated in the rituals with devotion, praying for health, harmony, and prosperity. The calmness of Sarthal and the blessings of Maa Sheetla Devi filled our hearts with peace.
After Sarthal, we traveled to Bhata Village, Jodhpur (Doda)—the sacred place of our Kuldevi and Kuldevta. This location holds immense significance for our family lineage and ancestral traditions.
Standing on this holy land felt like reconnecting with our ancestors. The prayers offered here strengthened our bond with our roots and reminded us of the values passed down through generations.
Our next stop was Kashore Village, Jodhpur (Doda), where we sought blessings from Mata Nagarkoti Ji and Maal Mata Ji. These revered shrines are known for their divine power and protective grace.
The darshan here completed an important spiritual circle, filling us with hope, strength, and faith for the future.
Beyond the major pilgrimage sites, this yatra also reminded us of the deep spiritual connection we share with our local temples and native villages. These sacred places, nestled in the heart of our homeland, have protected our families for generations and continue to guide us with divine energy.
Each village temple carries stories of devotion, resilience, and ancestral faith. Visiting and remembering these local shrines strengthened our belief that spirituality does not only live in grand destinations, but also in the humble temples of our own land, where prayers have echoed for centuries.
What made this yatra truly special was the togetherness. From elders to children, everyone traveled together in the same bus, sharing stories, laughter, prayers, and emotions.
After completing the yatra, we returned home with a deep sense of fulfillment and gratitude. We truly believe that divine powers blessed our entire family, and by their grace, everything in our lives is moving in the right direction.
This holy journey was not just about visiting temples—it was about unity, tradition, and spiritual awakening.
This joint family yatra will always remain close to our hearts. It reminded us that when family walks together on the path of faith, every journey becomes sacred. Some of the captured moments are below.
