Ho Sin Sul, as interpreted from the Korean language, is: Ho means protecting or guarding; sin means body or self; sul means art or technique. In general, ho sin sul in Tang Soo Do is represented by its own characteristic techniques against grabs, locks, assaults with or without a weapon.
The principle object of ho sin sul is not to seek to destroy the assailant, but to demonstrate a gentle, yet firm strength against the assault. We wish to show that the violent act against us is imprudent. Technically, ho sin sul is a logical application of various motions learned from basic techniques of hyung and dae ryun, to be used against a sudden attackby an armed or unarmed assailant.
