Set Up Your Vizio TV
Setting up your new Vizio TV doesn’t have to be complicated. Whether you’re unboxing a SmartCast UHD, OLED, or QLED model, this guide walks you through the essentials—so you can connect, configure, and start enjoying your TV in minutes.
Carefully unbox your Vizio TV and place it face-up on a soft surface.
Remove all protective film, foam, and packaging.
Attach the stand using the included screws or prepare your wall mount.
Position the TV near a power outlet and close enough to your Wi-Fi router for a strong connection.
Tip: Avoid touching the screen directly—handle by the edges.
Plug the TV’s power cord into the back of the unit and then into a wall outlet or surge protector.
Use the power button on the remote or on the TV itself to turn it on.
The Vizio logo will appear, followed by the setup wizard.
When the TV powers on for the first time, it will walk you through the following:
Select language and region
Choose Home Use (not demo mode)
Connect to your Wi-Fi network by entering your password
Accept the terms and conditions
Optional: Use an Ethernet cable for a more stable internet connection.
After Wi-Fi connects, your Vizio TV will check for the latest software.
Install any available updates.
Let the TV restart if necessary.

You’ll be asked to log into or create a Vizio account.

Switch inputs using the Input button on the remote and rename them for easy access.
Go to Menu > Picture
Recommended modes:
Calibrated for general viewing
Calibrated Dark for movie nights
Game Mode for gaming
Adjust brightness, contrast, and color based on room lighting.
Go to Menu > Audio
Turn on “TV Speakers” or enable HDMI ARC for external sound systems
Use Lip Sync Adjustment if audio is delayed

To access:
Press the Home or V button on your remote
Open any app and sign in to your account
Start streaming directly from the TV
Note: You can’t download new apps, but you can cast additional apps from your phone or tablet.
Use Chromecast on Android or AirPlay on iOS.
Make sure your phone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network.
Tap the Cast or AirPlay icon inside your favorite streaming app and select your Vizio TV.
Download the Vizio Mobile App from the App Store or Google Play.
Use your phone as a remote control.
Launch apps, cast content, and change inputs directly from your phone.
