Chrysalis is a short indie game that mixes puzzle-solving and combat. You play as a mysterious cloaked figure wearing a tribal mask, exploring a series of islands that act as levels. Each island features a unique theme, aesthetic, and different puzzles to solve. The main mechanic is the ability to switch to an alternate “spirit” view, revealing hidden objects and interactions. This allows you to overcome obstacles that are invisible in the normal world.
MY ROLE
This project was developed by a team of students using Unity. I was responsible for:
Designing and implementing the core gameplay mechanics, including the spirit mode
Defining the core gameplay loop focused on exploration and puzzle-solving
Designing the level layout and challenges of the final island
Contributing to the overall player experience through environmental interactions and pacing
Both the gameplay systems and level design were built to support the game’s focus on perception and discovery, encouraging players to switch perspectives and uncover hidden elements.
