Sexuality is a part of someone that is out of their control yet has a massive influence on who you are. Initally, I was convinced I was straight like many people living in a heteronormative society. Of couse, I kissed my friends that I had a "girl crush" on. After I got over some religious trauma and surrounded myself with more gay people, I realized that I did like women, and it was okay to like women.Â
The Bi flag represents the bisexual community, fostering visibility and pride. Michael Page designed the flag in 1998 using the colors pink, purple, and blue to represent attraction to the same gender, multiple genders, and a blend of those experiences. Many people see this flag and feel seen or validated which contradicts the misunderstanding that is often accompanying the LGBTQ+ community. Today, the flag is used as a distinct symbol for bisexuals to rally around.
