Per DUG guidelines, gardeners are expected to work in the community areas of the garden for a minimum of 2 hours per month.
We have work days for completing hours or you may place your name on the list in the shed for what you did around the garden if you can’t make a workday.
Keep your plot free of weeds - including inside and along the outer edge and about 1.5 feet from your plot
If a plot appears neglected/abandoned (unwatered and/or overrun with weeds), you will be given ten (10) days' notice to maintain your plot. After this time, your plot will be reassigned.
Plant by the designated “plant by date” for the year - usually by June 1st
If you don’t plant by the designated date you risk losing your plot
You don’t need to be fully planted, but the plot should be cleared and signs of planting should be visible
Winterize your plot by the date provided - by November 1st
Protect your soil from erosion. This means cleaning out your summer crops, planting winter crops, etc.
All dead plants, weeds, trash, tools, sticks, and cages are to be removed or stored by November 1, or the plot may be forfeited and reassigned
Per DUG guidelines, help weed the school plots when able (plots 5, 9 & 10).
Take excess refuse, and garden waste to the dumpsters around the side of the VPP building. See the Facebook group for the dumpster location video
No planting trees in plots or growing marijuana per DUG
Following the guidelines above, you will be invited back. Failure to do so will result in the forfeit of the plot per DUG.
If you have questions about the guidelines or concerns about contributing to the garden, contact the garden leaders.
