2016 & before

2011

I grew wheat in all three terraces, mowed it, raked it by hand, and then threshed and winnowed it, as documented in these videos.

After threshing and winnowing, I couldn't find a seed separator, but ended up reading about people in New Mexico "washing the wheat", and by pouring water over it, I succeeded in floating off all the bindweed seeds, and then I quickly drained the wheat and dried it in the sun. After that, I borrowed a friend's flour mill, and used some sieves to make more flour than I was able to use in a year! The chickens ended up eating a bunch of the older wheat. Fun project; I learned a ton.
