Welcome, travellers of Vigra.
Upon the quay you hear the muddled sound of many voices. From within the Fox Tavern, six different Vikings sing six short verses. Each verse is whole in itself — yet none is complete alone.
Your task is this:
Listen well.
Each of the six verses is part of a larger complete quest. They are fragments of a greater song, broken and scattered.
Discern the order.
The six verses may be rearranged. There is only one true sequence in which they may be sung as one.
Join the verses.
When the verses are placed in their correct order, they form a single trek. Follow this trek, to find your prize.
May your steps be true and may the song carry you safely to its end.
(If this task is too difficult, you may prefer to navigate to the next page of this website ( The Answer ) where both the completed song and route are given.)
Walk on until an ancient tree,
Stands patient, vast, in quiet decree.
Its branches cast the sun just so,
Upon the prize you came to know.
Oh Viking traveller, hear my song. Heed my warning, the order's wrong.
At the story hut where the sagas stay,
Turn to the right and walk away.
Granite blocks lie cold and sure,
Guiding your feet to steps once more.
Oh Viking traveller, hear my song. Heed my warning, the order's wrong.
The birthing hut waits on your left-hand side,
Pause a breath where new lives cried.
Then turn your path and climb with will,
Up the worn old steps of the waiting hill.
Oh Viking traveller, hear my song. Heed my warning, the order's wrong.
Pass through the gate of timber beams,
Tall and imposing is what it seems.
Beyond its frame, the world grows still,
A place of sanctuary, upon this hill.
Oh Viking traveller, hear my song. Heed my warning, the order's wrong.
Leave the quay where the longboats lay,
Set boots to planks and walk away.
The boarded pathway, its path you take,
Twists and turns like a wooden snake.
Oh Viking traveller, hear my song. Heed my warning, the order's wrong.
A leftward bend breaks the climbing line,
Take that turn , you'll be fine.
Upward still your journey led,
Where ancient gods once did tread.
Oh Viking traveller, hear my song. Heed my warning, the order's wrong.
Oh Viking traveller, hear my song. Heed my warning, the order's wrong.
