Welcome! I’m Victoria Fariña, I’m 23 years old and this is my personal learning environment (PLE). Here, I will be posting content related to the subject "Aplicaciones de Informática Educativa a la Enseñanza del Inglés", or, in English, "ICT in ELT", which is part of the Teacher Training Course at Instituto Nacional Superior del Profesorado Técnico in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I started the Teacher Training Course in 2018 and I’m currently attending the last four subjects - Methods 2, ICT, Translation and Seminario - (yay!).
As regards my teaching experience, I’ve been working as a teacher for five years now. I’ve worked in different language schools as well as bilingual schools teaching young kids. During the 2020 pandemic, I was working at a bilingual school, so I had to give lots of virtual lessons per week (and when I say a lot I mean A LOT). I had to learn how to use Teams and I became a PowerPoint and Wordwall addict. It was tough at first but I ended up enjoying it since I also had to deliver online lessons for a language school to a group of adults beginners and an FCE course for teenagers (and I’ve realized I LOVE doing that!). Of course after many mental breakdowns I came to terms with Education Technology and pushed myself to learn how to use and implement many apps and virtual strategies to keep my students engaged.
I’ve never stopped teaching online since I believe there are plenty of benefits both for teachers and students (flexibility, authentic material one click away, among others).
From this subject, I expect to broaden my knowledge as regards tools that foster the development of skills for the future as well as to discover new websites, apps or strategies that may be useful for my lessons.
When I think of technology, I think about this meme because technology is always evolving and there is always something new to learn, which is great (but also time-consuming!).
