Welcome, my name is Victoria Goluch and I am the author and creator of the portfolio you have just stumbled across! This portfolio has been assembled as a project for all the works and pieces that I have been personally working on all throughout the course of my COM 101 college course. Within this portfolio you will have the chance to experience a set of thought out and meaningingful pieces written to portray the theme of "The Stranger In Me". Having the ability to discover the unknown hiding within each and every single one of us. Along with realizing that there is more to you than what your allow yourself to believe and at times even disclose. These five pieces are written to make you think and have the chance to open your eyes within different aspects not only within yourself but within the environment and world around you as well.
As you will soon see when moving forward within my site, all of the written pieces set a storyline in which you will be able to decipher and become a part of! The two most important key components of this portfolio are exposition and narrative. With that being said, you will come to find that I have taken on the role of incorporation mixed media into each of the pieces in order to convey and balance out these two important elements. Each written piece comes its own unique sense of media not only for enjoyment but for clearer comprehension as well. Now understandably, you’re probably thinking to yourself that media shouldn’t or even does not have a connection within the process of writing any sort of written piece. But sure enough this portfolio will allow you to experience otherwise! Media in all aspects allows room for perception and the ability to view the meaning behind the pieces in a whole new form! It allows you to create your own thoughts into a form of reality within each of the pieces. The connection between media and perception will also help you indulge with words within the work in order to fully achieve a sense of acknowledgement between yourself and the pieces as well.
Well, the time has come for you to move on within the journey of finding the stranger in yourself by indulging in the pieces that are coming your way. But before you move forward I’d like you to know that with writing and constructing these five pieces I have had to overcome many obstacles along the way. Whether it came down to a form of writer's block or having to take a moment to gain the courage to uncover parts of myself that I was never comfortable with sharing or coming to terms with, even within myself. Now looking back at the journey my writing has taken me through, I can proudly say that I have gain strength within language, connection, and understanding. Looking back at the work I have created I have seen a dominant change with language within the pieces. I feel that I have highly progressed with the skill of writing to an audience rather than just writing within a “bubble”, making my work more open for all to interpret and understand as a substitute to writing purely for my own understanding. I have also gained the ability and connect my work to other pieces of academic writing. Learning this skill allows my writing to reach a greater and broader scale of understanding not only for myself but for my audience as well. Lastly, I have gained the skill of understanding. I understand that I am more then I let myself believe that the world and its people are filled with hidden value. I learned to understand that life as a whole is a mystery that is waiting to be solved. So go on, continue your path towards the hidden and strange. But most importantly enjoy… I can only hope that you encounter the same sense of awareness as I did.
