INTRODUCTION: Welcome to Conservatory Art classes with Mr. Kennedy!
For the Conservatory Art program, "Year 2", this year, we will be focusing some on Illustration, Interior Design, some Art History and lots of stimulating exercises around drawing fundamentals and color theory as well as some amazing projects using gouache, markers and watercolor and construction processes! Within the second week or so, I will be sending you pertinent info for your Drawing & Painting, Studio Media and Intro To Visual Arts classes.
OUR FIRST 3 to 4 WEEKS:
By the fifth week of each of these classes, we will begin our course projects. (Info coming soon.) Until then, we will be prepping. These first four prep weeks are an introductory period where we’ll do a number of exercises and projects that will assess and prepare you for the course. I have all supplies for these first 3 to 4 weeks.
SUPPLIES FEE:
By the second week or so, I will let you know exactly what the Fall Semester supplies fees for each class will be. I have been working on getting the total cost for the materials and supplies for the first semester under $170-$200. I am still working out some details for each class as to keep the cost as low as possible. This Fall supply fee will be due by WEEK 3. I will share the supply list in case you want to do your own shopping for the supplies We will not need the materials until three weeks into the course but, if you could be prepared to pay me ASAP before I place the order or reimburse me ASAP after I let you know that I have placed the order, that will be great! I will let you know ASAP here on this webNEWSLETTER and on Google Classroom. Please know that if you choose to buy your own supplies, be careful to purchase everything that's on the list for your class in order to be ready for completing each project acurately and on time. Your grades will depend on it. I will have the lists ready for you to see by the second week. That will give you two weeks to shop and have what you need come week 4. I shop and put together these kits as a courtesy to try and save you money, make it convenient and to ensure that everyone is "on program" so, if you are planning on not using the kit I have purchased please be prompt to complete your shopping by week four/five when we will start our first project. By week 5, materials not paid for will be returned for reimbursement. I can not be responsible for having extra supplies on hand for students not bringing their supplies to class with them. Also, this year I will not offer "rental supplies".
Spring
Supplies fee for Spring Semester will be due by the 1st of November. That supply cost for returning students will be around $90-$100. (I'm trying to keep the total for the year around $260.)
Thanks for being a part of these classes! For your first day of class I will have everything you will need for these first four prep weeks. You don't have to bring anything for these first few classes but be ready after that to be responsible with your supplies and any material throughout the week. Come ready to draw, brainstorm and take notes.
Please feel free to contact me ANY TIME about anything.

Getting started:
SUBSCRIBE We need to be certain that the student and the parent/guardian both have access to this webNEWSLETTER. By subscribing, (clicking on the button above to send me an email), you will assure me that from here out, we will be able to communicate and that you, the student, will be able to know what you are supposed to do each week. It is vital that I have both the student's school email AND a parent/guardian's email for our communication to be successful.
GO TO YOUR CLASS PAGE: Click on your class link at the left to get introduced to the order of how you'll do things in these classes. IMPORTANT: Your assignments are due the week they are listed. i.e.: WEEK 1 assignments are due that week, not as homework for the following WEEK 2. ALSO: Artists are notorious for being procrastinators. Know that I am not advocating being one in this class. I know this is probably being introduced to you close to the deadline but, the first assignments (WEEK 1) are quick and easy. I'm looking forward to seeing you in class! I'll have what you'll need for the first 4 WEEKS . All you need to bring to class is yourself.-
Also note that some of the materials are being revised so TIP: stay up to speed but avoid working ahead unless you let me know.
