We are creating and nurturing a vibrant, supportive, multi-generational, racially diverse majority POC (People of Color) co-housing community that fosters connection with each other and our larger community.
75% (or more) of our community members identify as POC. We center equity and racial justice in our core values. We are changemakers* committed to making this world a better place. We plan to make our common space available to local social change/non-profit groups (meetings, events etc).
We embrace opportunities to work and play together. We envision our children experiencing the joy and freedom of playing in our shared green spaces and building friendships with other children in the community.
We host regular shared meals, community celebrations, and social gatherings. We support each other through life’s challenges and joys and work together to care for our land and shared facilities.
We care deeply about our natural environment and are committed to environmental sustainability.
* We define changemakers broadly. It could include folks who work for non-profits, educators, social entrepreneurs, community organizers, activists, organic farmers...
To us, cohousing feels like an answer to so many of our social challenges – isolation, segregation, rampant consumerism . . . especially in this time (pandemic, systemic racism, wildfires) cohousing feels to us even more of a much needed balm for healing, and creating regenerative ways of being and living.
We are still in the process of finding land/a site--somewhere in Northern California. Though as we consider the long term impacts of climate disruption (e.g. drought and California wildfires), we are open to other possibilities outside of California.
We are in the "forming" stage and are currently looking for additional core members to join us in building this community and making our vision a reality! Are you interested? Please fill out our questionnaire.
