Verdugo Day is a school event held every year in the late Spring where all clubs and sports showcase their achievements and fundraise. During this event, we rebuild the year's competition field on Kepner Lawn and invite the school staff and our peers to come drive our robot and ask questions. We also use this time to recruit people who are interested in joining the team and begin their workshop/training prior to the next school year.
This day is also the biggest school fundraising date, so we sell our 3D designs and prints. All designs are student made on Autodesk Fusion360 and printed on campus with our Creality 3D Printers. The designs are representative of the team's personal interests and of the school's logo. Occasionally, we are commissioned to make designs for the school. The fundraising money prioritizes paying for our next year's registration fees and then expanding our program.
We exhibited our Skystone robots with explanation of what they were build for. We also brought our Flashforge 3D printer out, printed keychains and sold them to intrigued students and staff members.
2018 was our first Verdugo Day participation. We displayed our banner and brought our robot out for people to drive. Despite all the food vendors, we garnered a lot of interests from the school, being the only stand with a driveable robot. We hope to continue to promote interests and bring in more people to our team.
