Outreach

The vision that drives FIRST is a goal to "transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders" (Dean Kamen, Founder).

We wish to follow that goal with our own outreach activities and presentations to help build excitement and support for the program, as well as for the fields of STEM. In 20486, we foster an environment where everyone feels welcomed to join, share their ideas, and be part of a team. We reach out to our middle school to offer mentorship and travel on a showcase roadshow with our school to promote the program.

Since we have some team members without consistent transportations, we offer workshops on our campus and invite all surrounding schools to join. Flyers are sent out through the LAUSD robotics group and the newsletter, encouraging any team to come to our meetings. We also invite students from the whole school to check out what we are doing and join the workshops.
