Educators Guide
The primary alignments for the Kahaluʻu Ma Kai Virtual Huakaʻi are to Hawaiian Culture-Based Education STEAM principles and standards. The tables embedded within the guide includes educational alignments as they are described by Na Hopena Aʻo (Hawaiʻi DOE), E ʻOla Learner Outcome (Kamehameha Schools), Next Generation Science Standards, International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards, National Core Arts Standards, and Common Core State Standards.
Blended Learning Facilitator Guide
During our West Hawaiʻi Pilot with DOE middle schools, we created a blended delivery format beginning with the virtual huakaʻi (field trip) in the classroom, and culminating in a physical huakaʻi to Kahaluʻu Ma Kai, complete with activities such as a cultural tour/familiarization, Breakout EDU activity, and community service activity.
