This SOP is designed to facilitate student achievement, improve student behavior and attendance, and help students develop socially. PAI College of VEDA uses counselling as a critical tool to improve student behavior, gauge student satisfaction and enhance the training and education process of students.
Often times, student counselling demands close interaction and participation of parents as well. PAI College of VEDA follows the following Standard Operating Procedure to conduct student counsellings.
Generate monthly attendance reports for all students.
Send year wise monthly attendance report on VEDA Parents group & all official Student WhatsApp groups.
Identify students with less than 50% attendance in the first month and shoot a WhatsApp message requesting identified students to meet the Student Welfare Officer.
Discuss each student case with his/her class teacher and film production in-charge.
While counselling the student, ask students to explain why their attendance was so poor. Also ask about their contribution to the film production team / see their portfolio.
Verify student response with class teacher, portfolio in-charge and concerned class representative(s) if required.
Explain the consequences of poor attendance and poor contribution in film production work on internal marks and brief about strict college policy regarding class discipline. Give verbal warning in the first month.
If the behaviour repeats a second month, call the concerned student to office and make him/her write an apology letter and an undertaking letter stating clearly that if such behavior repeats, college can take strict action against the concerned student.
Also speak with parent/guardian, if student response to counselling is non-serious.
Maintain the hardcopy of student apology and undertaking in a dedicated file.
If the behavior repeats in the third month as well, issue a show-cause notice to student and ask him/her to submit in writing why college should not cancel his/her admission.
Maintain the hardcopy of student response in file.
Call the student’s parents and discuss the consequences of such poor performance in college. Allow student to attend college once he/she gives a convincing and appropriate explanation for his/her non-serious behavior and parents also assure college that their child’s behavior would improve.
If the behavior repeats in the fourth month, initiate the procedure to rusticate the student.
