So, this is a short film dedicated to people who wants to give up or feels desperate with their lives. To pause a second, look around and you will find the motivation to fight again seeing the people who support, love and care about you.
This is also a short film dedicated to my mother who has raised me healthy and well single-handedly after my father passed away when I was 9.
I think one of the most engrossing things about filmmaking is how everyone can have their own interpretations about the characters' stories. For me, the story is really about embracing the vulnerability and ways to cope with hard times and challenges.
Growing up in Asia, most people see adults as being matured, you don't cry when you have turned into an adult; you always need to be strong, perfect and rational. Because of the repressive code we have, there's always a lack of communications between people, this happens to have affected the Parent-child relationship - at least something I have encountered with my mother.
The short film is highly inspired by the television series - WandaVision (2021) , along side with Turning Red (2022) and Inside Out (2014) on exploring ways to convey emotions expressiveness through colors and aesthetic. There is a great contrasts of the use of colors which associates with character's emotions - grey and saturated when Serein is trapped in the past; On the contrary, when Serein saw the fixed bracelet, vivid colors are used to show that Serein has truly breaks free from tragic her past and ready to move on.

Recalling it now, first time being a director is absolutely horrifying. There's a lot of self-doubts in decision-making, schedule over-running, unexpected raining during the filmmaking.
And then I find out, sometimes, you just need to trust and have faith in yourself. Believe in your vision and instincts, that's when the story in your mind comes into reality, and hopefully interacts and resonance with the audience, who might reflect or gets motivated by the story.
