Crowd Control at Gopalaswamy Betta range of Bandipur national park on April 4th and 5th 2013

Temples and other places of worship in protected areas are prone to high assemblage of people. There are about 11 such centres. Of these the Gopalaswamy temple with around 50,000 people converging here during festivities. Such high assemblage of humans and associated practices result in several detrimental effects on wildlife such Habitat modification, Edge effect, Soil, water and noise pollution etc. Forest fires are a major risk.
