⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An honest and supportive book for bereaved parents

"As a bereaved mother myself I know that, when your child dies, you have an overwhelming need to make contact with other bereaved parents, to know it's possible to survive and that your chaotic feelings are valid and normal. In this book the author writes about her beloved son Michael, about the love and joy he brought into her life and about her terrible grief when he died in a road accident at the age of six. As she says herself, this book is raw and honest and that's exactly what you need when you're newly bereaved. Friends and relatives often, very understandably, want to try and make you feel better but this author acknowledges the truth that, while you can't ever 'get over' the loss of a child, you can, in time, learn to live with your grief. Later there are two new additions to her family and we read about the conflicting emotions that can bring. One child can never replace another and it's very possible for great joy to co-exist with deep sorrow in the same person at the same time. I really like this book. It's not too long or wordy and it gets across the reality of one of life's worst griefs in a realistic and very easy to read way. I will be recommending it to both newly bereaved parents and to those who are expecting a new baby after that baby's elder brother or sister has died."
