Uniform Exchange

Promotion

During the preparation period, we used Facebook, Line, and other platforms to promote the uniform sharing plan. We also made a Google form to learn more about donors and recipients. In addition, through on-site promotion and collection, the students who were willing to exchange clothes were welcomed to enroll. We sent our members to collect and organize uniforms by going through every class, encouraging students to exchange their uniforms by giving limited mugs as gifts.

Organizing Uniforms

After the registration of willing parents went live, the student council and the volunteer team sorted out the school uniform by type and size. We also used an available parent reception room to organize the collected uniforms. Whenever we find suitable clothes, we notify the students to come and collect uniforms. When a certain type of school uniform was lacking, we posted an invitation on the Facebook fan page. Then we can obtain a sufficient number of uniforms successfully after the collection. Whenever a donation is completed, we give a mug away as a gift. Up to this day, we continue to receive scattered uniform donations and continue to carry out this activity.

Difficulties We Encountered

During the collection of uniforms, in the beginning, it was intended to price each uniform. But later, we encountered the problems such as the quality difference between the old and new school uniforms, and the difficulty to price each of them. So we decided to carry out the activity by exchanging uniforms. This way of doing it made the activities relatively simple and parents are more willing to participate, without too many complicated problems to deal with.

Affected by the epidemic, it was difficult for us to hold other physical publicity. We relied on Facebook, Instagram, LINE, and other social media. We used Google Forms to understand what uniforms students and parents could provide and what they needed.

School uniform inheritance and sharing were held for the first time. The biggest challenge was the variety of school uniforms. Considering the sizes, there could be close to 300 categories. The most popular kind of item was children's winter sportswear. Because of the school fair performance, young children were required to wear winter sportswear. Some parents were looking for that, but we didn’t have enough stock. After we asked for available sportswear on social media. Some parents immediately sent sportswear to us. For parents, they can save a lot of money, also reduce a lot of waste.

In June 2021, due to the severe epidemic situation, there was no graduation ceremony. All the high school graduates could not come back to provide uniforms because they were studying online. The demand for middle school uniforms was still high, but the supply was insufficient. Another difficulty was that the weather in central Taiwan was relatively hot. Numerous students provided winter coats, but there were not many students who needed them.

Summer sportswear is common to the whole school. Commonly known as the "zebra shirt." It is worn almost every week, so the demand is the largest. Since it is used frequently, it gets old easily. So the uniform sharing didn’t work as well as the winter sportswear.

How to increase the source and number of school uniforms and how to classify and deal with school uniforms are the biggest challenges of this project. We hoped to give away the received uniforms as soon as possible. If there are no suitable clothes to share, the school also provides exclusive space for storage.
