Make Travel Arrangements
If you haven’t already, please book your travel arrangements ASAP. Remember that you need to arrive in Zagreb by no later than 6 pm on June 23, 2022. The soonest you will be able to leave following the field school will be the morning of July 17, 2022 (from Zagreb). If you arrive before 6/23 or will stay after the morning of July 17, all lodging, food, and travel arrangements will be your responsibility.
Please email Rick (RikW@uwyo.edu) and me (jahern@uwyo.edu) your flight/travel itinerary as soon as possible and by no later than June 18th. We will make arrangements for transportation from the Zagreb airport (or train or bus station, if you arrive one of those alternative ways) to where we’ll be staying in Zagreb. We will let you know about those arrangements by June 19th.
Passport
Hopefully all of you have valid passports as it may be too late to apply and receive a new one in time for the trip.
UW Student Bill Issues
If you have received either of the 2 problems with your UW bill, please let me know ASAP: 1) you’ve been charged non-resident tuition (even if you’re a non-resident), and 2) you’ve been charged both a $2,100 Anthropology fee and a $3,400 study abroad course fee. Per the UW Fee Book (p. 26-27), all ANTH 4140 students are charged resident tuition. Regarding the other issue, UW Education Abroad and Billing are working to resolve this. The $2,100 fee (on top of the $3,400 fee) is a mistake. Once resolved, things should either appear as just a $3,400 fee or a $2,100 fee plus another $1,300 fee.
Asynchronous Preparation Class
Instead of an all-day synchronous class session on an introduction to Croatia and its prehistory and history, there will be an asynchronous session that you will need to complete before June 23rd. More information on, including a link to the session, will be forthcoming.
Optional Field Training Session
There will be an optional field training session held at Camp Guernsey, WY on June 1st. If you will attend this all-day session, please email me (jahern@uwyo.edu) and Rick (RikW@uwyo.edu) by no later than Friday, May 13th.

Field School Fee Increase
Due to record inflation and high demand for holiday travel to Croatia this summer, crucial expenses for the field school have increased dramatically and unexpectedly. Although we have tried to trim the budget in order to meet the increased costs, I have determined that we cannot cut the budget any more without completely compromising the quality of the program. Therefore, after consulting with the other field school faculty and with UW Education Abroad, I have decided to increase the field school fee from $2,900 per student to $3,400 per student.
