VikeLabs

VikeLabs is a collective of students who learn to build, deploy and test software apps quickly. The group views UVic as a kind of laboratory for testing solutions to problems that exist within the campus community.

UVic Environmental Engineering Club

Founded in 2020, the University of Victoria Environmental Engineering Club (UVEEC) aims to empower engineering students of various disciplines to solve environmental issues within our local community of Vancouver Island. We have been working on our second project, an underwater glider that will be used to collect oceanographic data in Saanich inlet.

UVic Satellite Design

UVSD is a community of  students with an interest in space exploration and satellites. Together we partake in extracurricular learning related to satellite planning, design, development, and operations. Highlights of the team include the launch of ORCASat in 2021.

Seismic

The UVic Seismic Design Team is a group of undergraduate students that competes in the annual EERI Seismic Design Competition, engaging students in earthquake engineering and research.

The UVIC IEEE Student Branch is a social, event coordinating, learning, and scholarship group related to the International Electrical and Electronics Engineers (everyone is welcome). You may have seen or attended our SkillDevs where we take students, lab techs, and professors and teach skills like hands-on soldering, embedded programming, or machine learning!

UVic AERO is a group of students who are passionate about aviation, aircraft design and aerial robotics. We design, build, and fly various remotely piloted aircraft.

UVic Hybrid

Our team competes annually in the most complex competition of the Society of Automotive Engineers' International Collegiate Design Series: Formula Hybrid emphasizes drivetrain innovation and fuel efficiency for high-performance vehicle applications, while overcoming challenges in system integration and project management. Members work in electrical, mechanical, software, and business sub-teams and use industry standard tools to research, design, fabricate, and test parts in a hands-on and supportive learning environment.

Canadian Society of Civil Engineers (CSCE)

The Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE)  was created to develop and maintain high standards of civil engineering practice in Canada and to enhance the public image of the profession. The UVic student chapter is a group of undergraduate and graduate students who facilitate the exchange of knowledge through hosting industry talks, networking events, and site visits. We aim to help civil engineering students gain insight into real civil projects and ease the transition from student to professional. We also host social events and act as a feedback hub for program and course suggestions from students.

UVFR Electric

We design, build and race an electric formula style race car. Come get hands on experience with engineering theory, design, manufacturing, business and operations.

The UVic Robotics Club is dedicated to competing in the annual Canadian International Rover Challenge (CIRC). Our members are passionate engineering and computer science students who love to design, build, and program robots. We welcome anyone who is interested in robotics to join the club, regardless of your current skills and experiences.

UVic Formula Racing

UVic Formula Motorsport designs and builds an open wheel formula style race car to compete in Formula SAE Michigan, the largest collegiate design competition in the world with 120 universities attending. We provide students with the support, space, and tools to work on projects appropriate for whatever your current engineering skillset is.

Women in Engineering and Computer Science (WECS) has a goal to create a community for women and gender-non-conforming individuals at the University of Victoria to grow as students and professionals. We have three core areas of focus: Academia, Professional Development, and Community. Within each focus, we provide low-commitment opportunities to support our members.
