Tablets for Viewing Music Sheets

This website was initially constructed so I could organize my personal music sheets as I began the shift from paper copies to digital copies.  Paper copies are great to view, but awkward to store and carry on trips.  Plus, they integrate poorly to many great online resources for learning songs or skills.  First off I learned that it was not going to be feasible to use just one file type, because, among other reasons, the final preferred version of songs likely will be derived from different sources and by different processes.  It's just too time-inefficient or expensive to put them all into one file type.  That's why links from the home page go to different places.  However, for tablet viewing of the music, one does want to seek a sheet that is fairly compact and conventional so it fits on a vertical screen.  Some websites do have an autoscroll feature, which can be helpful for longer songs.  With a website for organization, it makes it easy for any tablet or even a phone can find and display music - but smaller screens are a lot less usable than a sheet of paper.

DOUG'S ANDROID TABLET EXPERIENCE 2023

I mainly use Google and Microsoft software on Android and Windows devices - including a Google Pixel 3 phone.  I chose an Android tablet with a 2k 11-inch screen (Lenovo - Tab P11 Plus - 11" - Tablet - 128GB - Slate Grey; $210 from Best Buy in April 2023).  The RAM (4GB) is adequate since the music is mostly stored in the cloud - wifi is fine for this - but we need to have UUFCC wifi working when we meet.  More importantly the screen size and battery life work well for music sheets.  I am not certain the 2k resolution is needed - lower resolutions might be fine - and even cheaper.  The speakers are good for YouTube videos and Spotify music.  I bought a generic stylus, but have not found the touchscreen very useful for marking up music.  Android tablet software is not as good as Apple iPad software; think of it as just a larger version of your Android phone.   The taller screens on an Android tablet may be better for music than the more squat iPad aspect ratio.  Note that searching and downloading of music can be done on the Android tablet, but that google software on a windows laptop is much better for this, and music sheet files are immediately viewable on the tablet if using a shared google drive folder for music.  I'd happily get this tablet again - though a 12" screen would be an improvement that would make it easier to fit some longer songs.  I might consider getting a second inexpensive tablet just to display the second page of a 2-page song sheet.  Similarly, sometimes it would be useful to play a YouTube music video on a second screen.
