Level 1 Questions

Level 1 Questions serve the purpose of examining fundamentally important systemic issues, such as protected and scheduled time for literacy instruction. At first glance, the questions may seem very basic and easy to check off. In practice with schools, there are almost always areas for examination at Level 1, particularly opening up dialogue around intended and actual practices. The level 1 questions set the structure and process for examining practices collaboratively. We recognize that educators are professionals who want to implement high quality practices, but sometimes systemic issues get in the way. In order to prioritize and remove barriers, we must first identify our current reality accurately from multiple perspectives.
