Registration will be set up in the basement of IA (Sam Ibrahim Building, UTSC). We've made it easy for you to find your way with clearly marked tables and directional posters throughout the building. Our friendly staff members will be stationed at all times to welcome you, answer any questions, and guide you smoothly to our opening ceremony location.
We understand that sometimes delays happen, which is why registration remains open until 9:45 AM to accommodate late arrivals. If you know in advance that you'll be arriving after 8:30 AM, we kindly ask that you inform us ahead of time. You can reach out to us via email or contact us through our Instagram account to let us know your expected arrival time. This helps us ensure that you don't miss any important information and that we can facilitate your smooth entry into the conference.
Please make sure to bring any required documentation or confirmation emails with you to registration. Our team will check you in, provide you with your delegate materials, and answer any last-minute questions you may have before the opening ceremony begins.
9:00 am - 9:45 am
The opening ceremony will officially kick off SCMUN 2025 and set the tone for an exciting day of diplomacy and debate. During this important session, attendees will:
Receive a warm welcome from our organizing committee and faculty advisors
Learn about the conference structure including session timings, committee locations, and logistics
Hear opening remarks Hear opening remarks from our hard-working team that put this conference together
Review procedural rules and expectations for proper Model UN conduct and decorum
Get an overview of each committee and their respective topics for debate
Receive important announcements about lunch arrangements, break times, and emergency procedures
Following the opening ceremony, delegates will proceed directly to their assigned committee rooms to begin Session 1. Make sure to pay close attention to room assignments and any last-minute updates announced during the ceremony.
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Session 1 marks the beginning of substantive committee work. During this two-hour session, delegates will:
Settle into their committees and introduce themselves to fellow delegates
Review the topic at hand as the chair provides context and background information
Begin formal debate following proper Model UN parliamentary procedure
Deliver opening statements representing their assigned country's position on the issue
Engage in moderated caucuses to discuss specific aspects of the topic with structured speaking time
Participate in unmoderated caucuses for informal discussion and coalition-building
Start drafting working papers with other delegates who share similar positions
This session is crucial for establishing your country's stance, building alliances, and beginning the collaborative process of developing solutions to global challenges.
12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Take a well-deserved break to recharge! Use this time to network with other delegates, or simply relax before the afternoon sessions. If you prefer to explore dining options beyond the conference venue, there are several convenient choices available:

1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Session 2 continues the momentum from the morning as committees move deeper into debate and resolution-building:
Refine working papers based on feedback and further discussion
Merge similar proposals to create stronger draft resolutions
Address points of contention through compromise and negotiation
Continue formal debate on the proposed solutions
Introduce draft resolutions for committee consideration
Begin amendment processes to improve and refine proposed solutions
By the end of Session 2, committees should have one or more draft resolutions ready for final debate and voting in Session 3.
3:30 pm - 4:00 pm
Take a short 30-minute break to recharge before the final session. This is a great opportunity to:
Relax and refresh after hours of intense debate and negotiation
Network with fellow delegates from other committees and exchange experiences
Grab a snack or beverage from nearby vending machines
Review your notes and prepare your strategy for the final session
Stretch and move around to stay energized for the remainder of the conference
Use this time wisely to ensure you're ready for the crucial final session ahead
4:00 pm - 6:30 pm
The final session is the most intense and exciting part of the conference, where all the hard work comes together:
Present draft resolutions to the full committee for consideration
Debate amendments and vote on proposed changes to resolutions
Deliver final speeches in support of or against various proposals
Vote on resolutions to determine which proposals pass
Conclude committee business and prepare for closing ceremonies
Receive feedback from chairs on performance and areas for improvement
This session determines the final outcomes of your committee's work and showcases the diplomatic skills you've developed throughout the day.
6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
The closing ceremony marks the conclusion of SCMUN 2025 and celebrates the outstanding achievements of all participants. This special event will bring together all delegates, chairs, and organizers to reflect on the day's accomplishments and recognize exceptional performances.
During the closing ceremony, you can expect:
Welcoming remarks from the Secretary-General and the organizing committee
Reflection on the conference and highlights from each committee's debates and resolutions
Award presentations recognizing delegates who demonstrated exceptional diplomacy, research, and leadership
Closing remarks and words of encouragement for future Model UN participation
Photo opportunities to commemorate your SCMUN 2025 experience
Each committee will present three prestigious awards to recognize outstanding delegate performance:
Best Delegate - Awarded to the delegate who demonstrated exceptional leadership, diplomacy, research, and overall contribution to their committee's work
Book Award - Presented to a delegate who showed excellent procedural knowledge, strong speaking skills, and effective negotiation throughout the conference
Honourable Mention - Recognizes a delegate who made significant contributions to debate and displayed commendable diplomatic skills
