- Michelangelo @ age 87
Michelangelo, the titan of Renaissance art, famously declared, "I am still Learning." His words resonate deeply within me, for as an educator who has dedicated years to studying Physics, EdTech, and instructional design, I too find myself on a perpetual journey of learning and growth.
My formal education began with a Bachelor of Science in Physics for Teachers [BSPT] at Philippine Normal University, followed by a Master in Education [ME], major in Physics , at De La Salle University. But the thirst for knowledge knows no bounds and so to further refine my craft, I pursued a Master of Arts in Education [MAE] with a specialization in Instructional Media and Design at the University of Makati.
My learning extends far beyond university walls. An unwavering desire to stay abreast of current trends and best practices has led me down a path of continuous professional development. Trainings, workshops, and certifications in STEM, PhET-STEM, and Google for Education programs have equipped me with valuable tools and methodologies.
Like Michelangelo, who tirelessly practiced and explored new techniques throughout his life, I believe an educator's journey is never truly complete. Each student, each interaction, and each new pedagogical approach serves as a brushstroke adding depth and dimension to my teaching canvas.
My commitment to learning reflects not just a personal quest for growth, but a deep understanding of the impact it has on my students. As the world evolves at an ever-increasing pace, so too must the methods we use to educate future generations. By continuously learning and adapting, I can create a learning environment that is not only engaging and relevant but also prepares students for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
Just as Michelangelo's unfinished sculptures offer a glimpse into his creative process, my journey of learning is a work in progress. There will always be new knowledge to acquire, new skills to master, and new ways to inspire young minds. Yet, embracing this continuous learning, echoing Michelangelo's spirit, allows me to become a better educator, a better mentor, and a lifelong learner alongside my students.
I will always keep my mind open, my curiosity alive, and my passion for learning unwavering. For in the ever-evolving landscape of education, I believe that it is those who never stop learning who will truly leave a lasting mark.
I owe my skills / competencies as teacher & educator to the following educational institutions.
I have attended several education events to keep abreast with the new and best practices in teaching and learning. The documents below were awarded to me in some selected training, workshop, seminar, and certification programs that I joined recently.
