History
2012: SomerVision 2030 defines Union Square “as an area to transform.”
2013: The Union Square Revitalization Plan formed guidelines for development, and the search for developers for the Union Square Redevelopment Project starts.
2014: Union Square Station Associates (US2) is selected as the master developer.
2017: Somerville and US2 make a deal in which US2 must negotiate a Community Benefits Agreement with a council of community members to advocate their concerns.
The USNC is that “council of community members!”
2017 - 2018: The Union Square Neighborhood Council Working Group was formed to create a neighborhood organization and board that serves as a bridge between the city (Somerville) and developers in the Union Square area. The USNC did not receive enough votes in June 2017 but prevailed in November 2017.

2019: USNC and US2 signed Somerville's first CBA
