Socks, underwear, sleepwear (if your group is camping - bring moisture-wicking clothing if possible)
USD shirts – appropriate, NOT D-Days
AWOL Shirt(s)
Work clothes that you do not mind getting dirty/paint on. Plan to wear some items more than once!
Change of clothing for cultural day and evening down time. Again, plan to wear items more than once!
Shower sandals
Comfortable, weather appropriate shoes that are closed-toed for hiking, working, etc.
Appropriate seasonal coat/jacket, gloves, scarf, hat (check the weather)
Work gloves & special work shoes/boots (if needed)
Other:
Reusable water bottle, reusable plate/bowl/fork/spoon/knife
Toiletries for the week (try to bring only what you need, don’t bring full-size items)
Towel (microfiber quick-drying travel towels are a good option)
Snacks (be reasonable, SLs will also purchase snacks for the group)
Condensed travel blanket, pillow, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad (not all groups will need all this - only take what is necessary!)
Travel-friendly games and activities: A book, cards, or other compact games (pledge to disconnect from phone/social media)
Spending money for souvenirs (AWOL covers all meals and some snacks, but you may want extra money)
2 forms of Identity - (STUDENT ID and DRIVER’S LICENSE or other state ID)
Phone and charger
Ibuprofen/aspirin, prescription medications (site leaders will have a first-aid kit with them too)
Ear plugs and eye mask
Do NOT bring:
Valuables (jewelry, laptops/phones that cost more than a 3 credit hour course)
Lots of shoes and clothing. Remember, plan to wear things more than once. Keep it minimal, we have limited space in vans!
Tons of extra stuff (anything that you don’t really need - think twice before you pack it!)
