Kick-off
The alternative break kick-off event in the fall will be your first introduction to your group. You will learn more about AWOL alternative breaks, fundraising expectations, and scholarships.

Pre-Departure Meetings
Prior to departure, participants will spend time learning about their social issue, build group dynamics, gain relevant knowledge, and become oriented to the mission and vision of AWOL and the community partner or organization(s) with which they will be working. Each group will meet a minimum of 5 times.
The dates, time, and location for your mandatory pre-departure meetings will be organized and communicated with you by your site-leaders.

Pre-Departure Reflection
Use these two activities to reflect on your identities and how you fit in the social network. These are self-guided personal reflection activities. All members of the alternative break should complete these after their 4th group pre-departure meeting and before they depart on the alternative break. Use this for discovery; be honest, you will not be asked to share this with anyone.
