USD 408 Coach Recognition Scholarship(USD 408 Recognition Scholarship Program) NOMINATING CRITERIA for COACHESA nominated coach must meet the retirement qualifications of the State of Kansas, and have served the Marion School District as a full-time employee for a minimum of 4 years. In addition, they must also meet one of the following criteria:1. 20 years of coaching in USD 4082. One team State Championship at MHS3. Three State Playoff appearances4. Five league team championships5. Twenty individual state champions6. Fifty individual league champions7. Varsity winning percentage of 66.7%8. Other (worthy contributor) COACH RECOGNITION NOMINATIONSCoach Recognition nominations must be made by an MHS Alum, who is not a family member nor a school employ, prior to the first of June preceding the school year of their inclusion. The nominating person must provide written documentation of the criteria, which the coach meets to qualify for recognition in the USD 408 Coach Recognition Scholarship Program.
Coaches included in The Scholarship Program will be assigned to a gender area, based on their primary coaching assignment(s), and/or to maintain a balanced number of coaches per gender area. Coaches will be recognized on a rotating basis – in alphabetical order by their last name. Coaching additions to The Scholarship Program will be limited to one per school year. COACH RECOGNITION TERMSSelection of the Coach Recognition Scholarships will be directed by the MHS Athletic Director, and include those that he/she deems qualified to provide useful input. The selection group will take into account the student/athlete’s contributions to their team’s success, as well as their displayed character, leadership and sportsmanship. Two scholarships will be awarded on a yearly basis and will recognize a graduating male and female multi-sport student/athlete who performed at a distinct ability level, was a faithful teammate and an honorable competitor in representing MHS and the Marion Community. In order to receive USD 408 Coach Recognition financial assistance, the student-athlete must finish the school year in good standing at school, as well as within the community, and present proof of post-secondary schooling/training. USD 408 REQUIREMENT SCHOLARSHIP FUNDINGFunding will come from private donations, and money generated by an annual golf tournament.
