In the airplane activities, we experimented with various factors that affect an airplane's performance, including COP, COM, dihedral angle, and attack angle.
(Below is the worksheet we completed for this activity.)
In the activity, we learned how to construct a paper rocket and what important components are needed for a successful "launch."
To build the stomp rocket, we first rolled a sheet of cardstock around a PVC pipe and taped it together to create the body. Next, we cut a snow cone cup to create the nose and secured it to the paper base. We then cut 4 evenly sized triangular fins and taped them on the end of the body for stability during flight. We then launched the rocket with a PVC launcher and a water bottle. Our rocket went around 20ft into the air, relatively straight, then came back down.
