Now that you are serious about building your application, and completing the process, the next step will be to sit down and complete all the paperwork! This is an involved process, and we will try to get through it as fast and thorough as possible. This depends on many factors, but expect to take at least 1 hour. In this appointment, please bring with you:
Birth Certificate
Social Security Card
A State Issued I.D. or Driver's License
High School Diploma or G.E.D
College Transcripts if applicable
Marriage License or Divorce Decree if applicable
Dependents Birth Certificates if applicable
Dependents Social Security Cards if applicable
DO NOT bring photo copies. They must be the original documents or certified copies.
This is not an all inclusive list, and if you are unable to obtain something from above let your recruiter know and we can see if there's an alternative.
There is also several forms to fill out. Don't worry, we are very good at helping you complete these in a timely manner. Some of the forms cover:
Privacy Act Information
Release of Information Authorization
Recruiter & Applicant Prohibited Activities
Drug Use & Alcohol Abuse
We also complete a comprehensive medical questionnaire. This also takes a fair amount of time. Depending on the results of the medical screening, you may be asked to provide additional medical documentation. If you know there's an item from the pre-qualifications in Step 1, bringing those records with you can speed the process up considerably. Failure to disclose items in your medical review can result in significant processing delays and/or disqualification.
There may be additional items that you may be asked to provide if you have any law violations or credit issues if applicable.
MEPS now requests the last 7 years of pharmacy records for applicants. If you are curious to see what medications will show up, you can request a copy for free from rxhistories. Simply click "Request A Report" and fill out the information on the next page. A report will be emailed to you in a few business days.
Once all the documentation has been completed and any records compiled, your application is sent to Seattle MEPS, the Military Entrance Processing Station for this area. There, the administration staff will review your package before sending it to the medical staff to review. The doctors there may ask for additional documents or records to help clarify if something they see. Be prepared to do some back and forth between them and your medical providers.
While this process is going on, there's no reason to wait! Preparing to take the ASVAB, doing research on what fields you would like to look for, and completing any other tasks you wish to do should be your priority. Eventually, your application may get approved for you to proceed to Step 3, and there's no reason to have things preventing you from going when that time comes!
