Upper Perkiomen Sportsmen's Association offers several NRA training clinics for interested club and non-club members.  Some of these courses are held in cooperation with UPSA at Hellertown Sportsmen's Association

Basic Pistol Training

Cost for this clinic is as follows:Member         =  $ 65.00Non Member = $ 150.00
This class focuses on: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, and shooting range safety. 
Additionally, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. ------------------------

Basic Shotgun Course

Classroom Instruction for the course will be online during the evening of TBD followed by the hands-on practical and range qualification which will be conducted during the club's Intro to Trap event on TBD starting at 8 AM. Registered students will receive detailed information. This class is for students wanting more in-depth training.
 Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; shotgun parts and operation; shotgun shell components; shotgun shell malfunctions; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting at straight away and angled targets; cleaning; and continued opportunities for skill development. 
There will be loaner shotguns in both 12 and 20 gauge for use for range time.
Fee includes 25 targets, and 1 box of shells.Additional targets, $5 per 25 targets; Shells $10 per box.------------------------

Basic Instructor Training (BIT)

All NRA Instructor Candidates must have current BIT certification completed within a preceding two years to obtain a new Instructor rating. For all new Instructor Candidates and those wishing to renew their certification, a Basic Instructor Training course will be held at UPSA Saturday November 5th from 9:00a – 3:00pm.BIT must be completed within a 2 yr period to qualify for an instructor level course. E-mail UPSATraining@gmail.com if you wish to attend------------------------

UPSA Stop the Bleed/First Aid Training

Emergency First Response:  
This is a 1 hour course given immediately after the club's membership meeting.
The STOP THE BLEED® Course is a class created by the American College of Surgeons and taught around the country by qualified instructors. This in-person, hands-on class teaches the basics of identifying and treating life-threatening bleeding using tourniquets, wound packing and pressure dressings.------------------------

 This NRA Range Safety Officer course is designed to train individuals in the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.
Topics will cover, safety issues, range operating procedures, range guidelines, and emergency procedures. 
Participants will receive certification as Range Safety Officers upon completion. ------------------------

CCW Instructor Course

This course focuses on teaching the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessry to carry a concealed pistol for personal defense. 
Students will be required to participate in two online evening course periods during the week (Wed/Thurs) and one all-day session at the host club/range (Sat). 
Prerequisites for this class is the completion of Basics of Pistol Shooting course, a Kydex-type outside waistband holster, three loading devices with a carrier for two, a cover garment (shirt/jacket) and 200 rounds of ammunition. Handgun should be a minimum 9mm or .38 SPL or larger caliber.

Chief Range Safety Officer

Prerequisite: Student must be an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer and must have successfully completed BIT prior to this course. 
 This NRA Chief Range Safety Officer course is designed to train individuals in the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.
Topics will cover standard operating procedures, inspections, emergency procedures, firearm stoppages, and malfunctions, safety briefings. 
Participants will receive certification as Chief Range Safety Officers upon completion. ------------------------

Range Safety Officer

Basic Rifle Training

This class focuses on gun safety rules, proper operation and maintenance of a rifle. Students will learn rules & procedures for safe gun handling, ammunition, loading & unloading, storage and cleaning.
Shooting fundamentals include shooting from the benchrest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions.  
Additionally, students will complete live fire training and nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor and receive a course completion certificate.------------------------

Basic CCW Course

Note: Students MUST have completed Basics of Pistol Shooting and provide instructor with a copy of course completion. Course will require a handgun .38SPL/9mm or larger caliber with any sights, 200 rounds of ammo, 3 reloading devices, and Kydex-type outside-the-waistband holster, and a reloading device carrier, a cover garment (shirt/jacket) and AT LEAST 200 rounds of ammunition NO EXCEPTIONS. Course will include Firearm Safety, Basic Defensive Pistol Skills, Drawing from Concealment, Loading and Stoppage Remediation, and Mindset (Lessons 1, 4, 5, 6, 7). Course duration is 10 hours.------------------------

Women On Target® clinics are available only to women  It’s a safe and friendly environment whether you’re handling a gun for the first time or just dusting some rust off for a little refresher.  At UPSA you will immediately feel at ease at this training clinic, which provides you with some hands-on, one-of-a-kind encouraging experience with Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun.  Instructor : Anna Cousins
This instructional shooting clinic is specifically designed to teach you firearm safety and the fundamentals of marksmanship.------------------------

First Aid Training

Emergency First Response:  This course focuses on first aid, AED, and CPR skills while building confidence in a rescuer's ability.  Course participants learn simple to follow emergency care steps and practice applying skills in a nonstressful learning environment.  
Topics covered include Primary Care (CPR), Secondary Care (First Aid), and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).  
As a reminder, it is a good idea to refresh your CPR and first aid skills every 24 months.

Basics of Pistol Instructor

This course teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching NRA’s Basic Pistol Shooting course. Prerequisite: Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills is a perquisite for certification as an NRA instructor. Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course, and complete an instructor certification examination. Students will receive the NRA Pistol Shooting Instructor Candidate Packet.
The club reserves the right to cancel class for insufficient registration. Attendees will be notified and refunds will be issued accordingly.
