Innovation and research play a crucial role in the development and progress of a country's education system. This is because they represent ideas, practices, or objects that are perceived as new by individuals. Innovation and research are also new concepts or strategies that can enhance productivity within an organization. In the context of Malaysia's education system, numerous innovations and research efforts have been disseminated or implemented by specific parties. However, the extent to which these innovations and research can influence our national education system remains to be explored.
Additionally, this program can showcase students' personalities by fostering entrepreneurial competencies within them. It also helps students build self-identity and develop mental and emotional resilience to face future challenges. Such an approach indirectly contributes to producing graduates equipped with the skills and knowledge required by the industry.

Supporting the aspirations of polytechnics to achieve their vision and mission within the designated time frame, which is to produce quality graduates equipped with various techniques and learning strategies that meet job market demands.
PERKAYA is a platform for producing final projects, serving as a requirement for students to qualify for a diploma at the Polytechnic. Every final-semester student in each program is required to create and present their final project individually or in groups under the supervision of an appointed lecturer. The initial quality screening of the products is conducted at their respective departments during the department's innovation day. The appointed panels are experts in their respective fields within the department.
Based on the evaluation, 12 high-quality entries from each department that successfully achieve a gold award qualify for the competition at the Polytechnic Merlimau level. The total number of products and research projects to be contested is 60 entries.
Prepare and deliver an oral presentation of the project, either in a group or individually, including a final report written in a standard format with technical data based on the project's implementation.
Develop a project prototype or program suitable for the project's interface.
Demonstrate an awareness of entrepreneurial elements in the produced project.
