Activities

Ten Pin Bowling

2nd Monday of each month at 11:00 – 12:30. Currently £3.78 per game.

At The Hollywood Bowl, Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth, PO1 3TN.

Once you've let us know you're coming, meet at the reception desk. If you are unsure where this is, we will arrange where to meet you.

We have the rails up to prevent the balls ending up in the gutter and there is an aid to assist those who can't hold the bowling balls. There are ramps leading from the seating area to the bowling lanes, so it is step-free access.

Wear trainers or soft soled shoes and bring a drink if you wish. There are drinks on sale at the venue.

Gym also known as 'Fit Club'

Wednesday every week at 11:15 – 12:15. £3.50 per session.

At The John Pounds Centre, Queen Street, Portsmouth, PO1 3HN.

Meet in the cafe. Wear trainers and bring a drink.

This is a private session for our members with an instructor to assist us. Take a look at the fitness suite and talk to our members and instructor before you decide if you would like to join. Contact us to arrange a visit.

If you choose to join, our Secretary will help you complete the gym membership form before the first session. Our instructor will give you an induction, familiarising you with the layout of the Fitness Suite, introduce you to the equipment and be there to assist moving around the room and using the equipment safely.

Monthly lunch

3rd Thursday of each month after our monthly walk. Details of where and at what time will be given out at the same time as the walking route.

Cost – we pay for our own food and drink.

If you don't feel you can manage the walk but would like to have lunch or chat over a drink, please join us.

Places we visit are at The Hard or in Gunwharf Quays.

Monthly Walk

3rd Thursday of each month. Most walks last about an hour to an hour and a half, and finish at lunchtime.

For all of our walks, where we meet and at what time, is decided by how many people are coming and where they start from. We prefer to meet in a central place that everyone knows. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a bottle of water.

Although we expect people to decide for themselves if they are fit for a walk, there is always at least one Committee member on each walk. They hold everyone's emergency contact details, which we hope will not be needed but it is better to be safe.

The destinations may be changed if they are found to be unsuitable during the risk assessment visit.

Other

Anything else people want to try.

We are applying for funding to help with costs of activities. Some people are interested in archery, skydiving, sailing, swimming and horse riding. If there is anything you do, or would like to do, that you think the rest of us will enjoy, please tell us. It doesn't have to be overly energetic – let us know what you want to do and we look into arranging it.

Full Group Meeting

Our group members attend many other excellent groups that have sit down meetings and they do not wish UVP to do the same. We hold one full meeting each year – our Annual General Meeting (AGM) – which everyone is asked to attend. This is where you will hear an update of the Committee's work for the year, our plans for the next year, and you may renew your membership and let us know of any ideas you have for the group.

NOTES:

We are all visually impaired and need to know who we are looking out for so please do not just turn up to activities without first telling us you are coming! We leave no-one behind as long as we know who we are looking out for!

Bowling prices change during school holidays and we let our members know as and when this happens.

The dates of some activities may change due to things such as Bank Holidays and we let our members know as and when this happens.
