Social Media Impact

This project was to see how addicted to social media we, as a society, are and how much we use them.

Social Media Addiction Quiz

On the quiz i got "fairly addicted".  I agree with the results as i catch myself using social media whenever I'm not busy or have some downtime. I don't think i use social media too often, i usually average about 7 hours a day on social media apps. 

Interesting Social Media Statistics

I find this interesting because you wouldn't think YouTube is particularly a social media app but it's user based, and its extremely popular with many people below the age of 64.

"YouTube by and large is the most widely used online platform measured in our survey. Roughly eight-in-ten U.S. adults (83%) report ever using the video-based platform." These findings come from a Pew Research Center survey of 5,733 U.S. adults conducted May 19-Sept. 5, 2023. 

Social Media's Impact on Society 

In my opinion i think Social media is a good way to stay connected to things happening around the world. It's a way to stay informed on topics that are impacting the world we live in whether you see them going on outside your door or not. It's a good way to find information that would occasionally get swept under the rug by the powers at bay. It's a good way to find topics and form your own opinion and act upon them as you see fit. To conclude, Social Media is a good way to stay connected to people and topics and its a way of finding actions you can take for those topics. 

Lessons Learned 

While doing this lesson I learned that I use social media sites way too often and that affects my mood in a negative way. The usage is about "average" for people my age but that doesn't mean i should continue that. I think I'll consider a break or limit my usage of the apps.
