Brain Brawl
Brain Brawl is the primary NJROTC academic competition. The competition is a "Jeopardy-style" comp, questions will be read allowed and teams consisting of 4 cadets will use their buzzers to answer. All questions come directly from the NSI, NSII, NSIII, and NSIV textbooks; additionally, questions may be asked from the cadet reference, drill, and field manuals. Brain-brawl practices will primarily consist of practicing questions from flash cards made by YOU. Each cadet will be assigned sections of their respective book to read and make flash cards on; these will then be practiced at practice. *All resources can be found under the cadet resource tab
J.L.A.B.
JLAB (JROTC Leadership & Academic Bowl) is a national competition where top JROTC cadets from around the country and even the world compete in leadership, critical thinking, and academic excellence. UGHS has long been an example of academic rigor and excellence, and we continue our mission to win! JLAB differs from the traditional NJROTC Brain Brawl and academic competitions, as it focuses more on general knowledge rather than the strict NJROTC curriculum. listed below are some great resources to use to help improve all aspects of your competition.
NAQT
JLAB (JROTC Leadership & Academic Bowl) gets ALL of its questions from NAQT (National Academic Quiz Tournaments), questions can range from math & science, history & geography, politics & current events, to so much more. Thus, it is always great to practice from the source! Listed below are resources for practicing all ranges of NAQT questions.
Great YouTube channel for all sorts of questions (Hint: look for NAQT Quizbowl questions!)
This will read questions to you!
NAQT Packet archive
This is a link to the NAQT packet archive, which has almost every single packet there is. This is great for team practices!
NAQT GOTTA-KNOWS
This is a link to the NAQT Gotta-Knows. These are good general knowledge topics that are almost always asked at competitions

JLAB NATIONALS VIDEOS
The JLAB finals are great videos to watch to get real-time questions that help with practice and get you used to the pacing. To help improve your game, try to watch them in your free time, write down the questions you got wrong, and practice them later. Re-watch the video and see how well you do.
