Freshmen Orientation Training (FORT) is a 3-day introductory program offered by the UGHS Wolverine Battalion for all incoming freshmen cadets or any cadets new to the program. Scheduled for July 23rd, 24th, and 25th from 0900 to 1330, FORT is designed to give new cadets a head start in essential NJROTC subject areas, including Customs and Courtesies, Rank Structure, Chain of Command, and Military Drill.
This early training opportunity helps cadets build confidence, leadership skills, and camaraderie with fellow cadets and staff before the school year begins. Cadets should wear comfortable athletic clothes and tennis shoes on the first day and notify instructors of any physical limitations. A $50 fee covers all training materials and lunch for each day. Required paperwork will be provided during orientation or at the start of the school year.
Cadets will be taught the basics of Drill, Formation, and Alignment. In addition, cadets will be taught the basics of PT (Physical Training)
All cadets will be taught the basics of NJROTC knowledge, giving them a head start on the year.
Cadets will be exposed to the various teams offered through the unit, including rifle, drill, orienteering, academic, color guard, and drone teams, respectively.Â
