北海道シャチ研究大学連合
University Alliance for Hokkaido Orca Research Project (Uni-HORP)
北海道沿岸では，シャチが多数発見されています．このシャチについて，基礎的知見を蓄積することを目的に，東海大学，常磐大学，三重大学，京都大学，北海道大学（*1）が中心となって，北海道シャチ研究大学連合（Uni-HORP）が2011年に立ち上げられました．ここでは，研究で得られた成果を紹介します．
Many killer whales have been found along the coast of Hokkaido, Japan. University Alliance for Hokkaido Orca Research Project (Uni-HORP) was launched in 2011 by Tokai University, Tokiwa University, Mie University, Kyoto University, and Hokkaido University (*1), with the aim of accumulating fundamental knowledge. Here, we will introduce the results obtained from the research.
*1：北海道大学に在籍していた三谷が京都大学に異動したため，現在，北海道大学所属のメンバーはいません．There are no members from Hokkaido University at this time because Mitani, who was a member of Hokkaido University, has moved to Kyoto University.

哺乳類科学60巻2号にて論文「根室海峡で確認された日本初記録のシャチ (Orcinus orca) 白色個体」が発表されました．

An article entitled "Killer whales off Rausu, Hokkaido" was published in "The most beautiful photographs of killer whales", edited by Hiroya Minakuchi, the Seibundo-shinkosha.

観光船「はまなす」での調査で，白いシャチが発見され，毎日新聞，朝日新聞，北海道新聞などで取り上げられました．
We observed a white killer whale from Whale Watching boat "Hamanasu", and it was reported in newspaper.
