EEWA Beginner’s Trait Guide Written by: SageWayren Traits are a system within EEWA with which you can gain benefits by using certain builds. It is intended to function off of, and grow with, your choice in playstyle, so as to make that more effective. The simplest way to explain traits is: the more you do a given action, the better that you get at doing that action. To access your trait menu, open your inventory, and then click the EEWA icon at the bottom right corner of your inventory window (next to your hotbar). This will open the EEWA menu, and then you can select traits from this menu to view your traits. Details about each trait can be found below, or you can simply hover over the text on each trait in game with your mouse to see the same information: Trait: Bonus per level: How to earn XP: Demonologist 15.0% increased sorcery damage per level Dealing damage with sorcery Shaman 2.0% decreased mana costs per level Having less than 25% mana or cleansing debuffs Conqueror 5.0% increased melee two hand damage per level* Dealing damage with two handed weapons* Ranger 4.0% increased ranged damage per level Dealing damage with ranged weapons Necromancer 20.0% increased active summon duration and 10.0% increased entity health per level. Spawning Necrotic enemies and having them active Priest 6.0% increased sorcery healing per level Using sorcery healing and healing yourself or allies Barbarian 5.0% increased melee one hand damage per level* Dealing damage with one handed melee weapons* Guardian 1.0% bonus damage prevented and 2.0% base damage taken returned as health per level Taking damage while wearing heavy armor Templar 1.5% lifesteal and damage reflected on attackers per level Blocking or dealing damage while wielding a shield *”One hand” and “two hand” refer to how many hands the single item in your inventory takes up when equipped. This means that daggers and dual swords count as two-handed weapons, as you cannot equip an offhand item, such as a shield, with that weapon. In addition to leveling traits naturally by performing their associated actions, a player may also purchase ranks for traits using Trait Points. Trait points are earned very slowly, you can earn XP towards generic trait points by leveling up, damaging enemies, completing quests, conquering outposts, discovering waypoints, completing Skelos Challenges, and moving long distances. The faster way of earning trait points is by consuming a Scroll of Learning, which is available as a quest reward for a couple of the EEWA quests. Purchasing trait progress using points has an increasing cost per level, the specific amounts needed can be found by hovering your mouse over the “Trait Point Costs” text at the bottom of the window, and can be found below: Traits have a maximum level of 10 for each trait, and by default a player may only have 35 levels TOTAL in all traits. This total can be changed in EEWA admin settings. Additionally, traits that are not used will slowly lose progress over time, by default. Again, this can be toggled in the EEWA admin settings. In order to prevent yourself from losing progress in a trait, be sure to use its associated action regularly. Traits also have a lock icon next to each trait. This is so that you can manually choose which traits that you do NOT want to earn XP for, in the event that you have a specific build that you are trying to earn progress for. The lock does not prevent the progress drain from unused traits, it only prevents them from earning additional XP. If you wish to reset your traits, you can purchase a Scroll of Re-learning from Thulmak (the frogman vendor/quest NPC) in Shattered Springs. NOTE** This does NOT function like the vanilla yellow lotus potion for attribute/feat points. You will NOT be able to reassign your traits as you choose. This scroll will reset all trait levels to 0, and will only refund spent trait points, not levels earned with XP. Finally, there are racial bonuses that can be applied to your traits, much like attribute bonuses by race. Additionally, if you use the Age of Calamitous mod, there are also Faction bonuses to traits as well (note: if you add additional factions using the admin-spawned gold tokens, you will only gain the bonus for the most recently gained faction. However, the grandmaster potion that teaches all factions should provide all bonuses). These bonuses do NOT count towards the level 10 maximum for each trait, or to the 35 level total. Their bonuses can be found in the tables below (updated values courtesy of @RenC#5105): Race Attribute Bonus Trait Bonus Hyborean +1 Strength, +1 Vitality +1 Guardian Cimmerian +2 Strength +1 Barbarian Stygian - +1 Necromancer, +1 Demonologist Tribal Himelian +3 Authority +1 Templar Hyrkanian/Turanian +3 Grit +1 Guardian Khitan - +1 Priest, +1 Demonologist Kushite +1 Grit, +2 Expertise +1 Shaman Nordheimer +1 Strength, +1 Grit +1 Conqueror Pict +2 Vitality +1 Templar Shemite +2 Agility +1 Ranger Darfari +2 Expertise, +1 Strength +1 Barbarian Vendhyan +1 Vitality, +2 Grit +1 Priest Zamorian +2 Grit, +1 Agility +1 Ranger Zingaran +1 Strength, +2 Agility +1 Conqueror AoC Faction Trait Bonus Stormhold +1 Conqueror Felgarth +1 Priest Elven Covenant +1 Ranger Cold Embrace +1 Templar Vanghoul +1 Barbarian Elvanor +1 Demonologist Note: You can only get one of the faction trait bonuses at a time. The factions work in a priority order, so to get the correct trait you want with multiple factions, you need to make sure the correct faction is at the top of your feats list, in the order shown from the table above. For example: If I wanted to have multiple factions, but to make sure I have the barbarian trait, I am limited to ONLY Vanghoul and Elvanor, as the trait will update to whatever new factions you get that are at the top of the list. If I wanted to make sure I have the ranger trait bonus, I could have any combination of factions from Elven Covenant and below. (courtesy of @FrostyP#9827)
