Question: How do I use the audio, camera, and video recording systems?

Answer: To use these components, click on the one that you would like to use. This should either take you to a separate screen (pictures and videos) or simply perform it’s function (audio recording and alarm button). To stop it, simply press on the button once more.


Question: Where are the resources and what information can I find there?

Answer: The resources are located within the Information section. We have many resources in this section, a link to a website to find registered sex offenders in your area, links to physical and mental health resources, and databases. Use this section to stay informed, healthy, and protected!


Question: What is the fake phone call? How does it work?

Answer: This button gives you the ability to set a time for your phone to ‘call you’ when in a suspicious area. The bar on the top of the screen allows you to slide it around in order to set a call time. This call time can go up to 60 minutes. Underneath this bar are three other buttons. This buttons allow you to either set the time, reset the time, or stop the ringtone. Use these buttons when you want to make a change to the call time. The concept behind this feature is to dissuade any potential attackers from assaulting you if they suspect that you are taking a phone call.


Question: How can I take the tour of the app?

Answer: The ‘Take a Tour’ button is located within the Information button. Just press the Information button and one of the sub-buttons will say ‘Take the Tour’. This will walk you through the function of all of the buttons and other useful features.


Question: How do I add emergency contacts?

Answer: Click on the Settings button. Listed under here will be the Personal Information button. Just click this to add emergency contacts and then save them for future use.


Question: What do the police call, both police and companions, and contact companions buttons do? What are the differences between them?

Answer: These buttons will always be located on the top of the app screen. All these buttons call someone who will be able to help you in a potentially threatening situation. There are a few differences: the police call buttons ONLY calls the police near you. The Contact Companions buttons calls and messages the people whose contacts you pre-stored on the app. Remember, you can always add more contacts to your emergency contact list!. Finally, we have the Call Both Police and Companions button. This notifies both of them with just one click of the button.


Question: How do I use and find the self defense tutorials/videos?

Answer: Press the Self-Defense button. This will take you to another screen where you’ll be able to read a bit about our tutorials. Click on the ‘Choose a Tutorial’ button. A black screen listing all of the options will pop up. First , choose which defense technique you would be interested in learning. When you do, the video will come up on your screen. One of our team members has provided voiceover for this and shows the moves in order to help you learn them. Explanations of these videos can be found at the bottom.
